Heather Greene, MSN, FNP, AOCNP, of West Cancer Center, discusses an approval and a labeling change authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2026 for colorectal cancer treatments. The first is the approval of encorafenib in combination with cetuximab and chemotherapy for patients with BRAFV600E–mutated metastatic colorectal cancer; the second is the strengthening of the product labeling for capecitabine and fluorouracil regarding the potentially life-threatening consequences of DPD deficiency. Both of these regulatory actions were covered in the New Drug Updates in Solid Tumors session at JADPRO Live 2026.
The approval of the pan-RAS inhibitor daraxonrasib for metastatic pancreatic cancer has been a major topic of discussion in the oncology field and was discussed in the New Drug Updates in Solid Tumors session at JADPRO Live 2026. Heather Greene, MSN, FNP, AOCNP, of West Cancer Center, provides an overview of the understanding and management of the dermatologic side effects associated with RAS inhibitors, including panitumumab, for the treatment of patients with colorectal cancer.
Heather Greene, MSN, FNP, AOCNP, of West Cancer Center, gives a review of evidence-based symptom management in colorectal cancer, emphasizing early identification of contributing factors and preservation of quality of life. Key strategies include oxaliplatin-induced neuropathy management, multidrug antiemetic prophylaxis, fatigue assessment, and nutritional support for anorexia and cachexia. Advanced practice providers should prioritize individualized interventions, functional assessment, multidisciplinary referrals, and early palliative care involvement, she notes. Aspects of these strategies were covered in the Fireside Chat: Managing Complex Symptoms in Cancer Care session at JADPRO Live 2026.
Nancy C. Long, MSN, APRN, AGACNP-BC, of Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, discusses the development of a novel solution called Uniter. In 2024, Blood Cancer United and Memorial Healthcare System partnered to create the tool, with the end goal to connect blood cancer patients with support services as part of routine clinical care by linking electronic medical record and Blood Cancer United resources. These data were presented as a patient advocacy poster during JADPRO Live 2026.
Nancy C. Long, MSN, APRN, AGACNP-BC, of Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, reviews the June 2026 U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval of Orca-T, a precision-engineered regulatory T-cell therapy, for use in matched donor hematopoietic stem cell transplantation with a myeloablative preparative regimen for hematopoietic and immunologic reconstitution and to improve chronic graft-vs-host disease–free survival in the treatment of adults with hematologic malignancies. This approval was discussed in depth during the New Drug Updates in Hematologic Malignancies session at JADPRO Live 2026.
Elizabeth Baca, MSN, APRN, AGACNP-BC, of Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, describes how a large academic center launched an APP-led multidisciplinary optimization pilot, with the goal to better understand why delays in conversion to transplant failures occur, and to develop strategies that improve the transition from transplant evaluation to treatment. These data were presented as a clinical poster during JADPRO Live 2026.
